The Advanced IT Core (AITC) helps researchers in Health Care and related
sciences to
maximize data analysis, protect and store data, visualize information, and disseminate results nationally and internationally.
The Advanced IT Core represents a collaboration between the IU School of Medicine
(IUSM) and
the Research Technologies (RT) division of
University Information Technology Services (UITS), the
central IT services organization at Indiana University. Research Technologies has traditionally
provided high-end computing, storage, and visualization resources to university researchers at large.
The AITC has been created to be a dedicated resource for the Health Care
and related sciences researchers at IU. It reflects the university's ongoing
commitment to support Indiana's various life sciences initiatives. Originally
funded through the Indiana Genomics (INGEN) initiative, the AITC now aims
to serve Health Care and related sciences researchers at large. In particular, it provides access to Indiana University supercomputing, information management, and visualization resources.
The AITC is currently leading an effort to make Research Technologies resources HIPAA compliant to enable researchers to analyze and store Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI) on RT systems.
